Originally posted Feb. 16: Death Cab for Cutie, Weezer and Jane's Addiction will headline the inaugural Bunbury Festival in July.
The lineup was posted on their website www.bunburyfestival.com this afternoon.
Organizers promised more announcements next week. They plan 100 live performances on six stages at Sawyer Point and Yeatman's Cove July 13-15.
Jane’s Addiction headlines Friday, while Weezer plays Saturday and Death Cab for Cutie, which played at PNC Pavilion in September, in scheduled for Sunday. The festival will start a noon each day.
Founded by MidPoint Music Festival co-founder and former Fountain Square managing director Bill Donabedian, the festival was inspired by Lollapalooza and the Pitchfork Music Festival. It will also feature eco-friendly products and services and a technology pavilion.
“The Bunbury Music Festival will feature the best of our local Indie bands with national and regional bands that fans may have seen at other great festivals and concert venues,” said Donabedian. “Fans should think of this as an authentic music experience.”
(Bunbury, from Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest," means "to have a made-up excuse to get out of doing something boring.")
Tickets are on sale at www.bunburyfestival.com: $46 for one-day passes, $93 for three-day passes.
